Every
successful time manager understands the significance of selective action.
Selective action can be defined as the process of doing the right task at the
most appropriate timeframe. This isn’t an entirely new idea for most people,
but the main problem about this methodology lies in identifying what task
should be selected over the other at a particular point in time. If you
constantly find yourself in this rut, here are some of the proactive approaches
you can take in order to overcome this problem:
Prioritizing:- Human beings
naturally prioritize their activities, mentally, putting the more important
tasks ahead of the less important ones. But our judgments are not always
unquestionable. This is because we sometimes allow emotions and
short-sightedness to dictate our course of actions. As a result of this, our
purpose of action may be shrouded in absolute confusion. Hence, this will make
our priority list appear weak, misguided and time-wasting. To achieve a clear
focus, we need to map out our plans or activities in a concrete progression so
that tasks that are urgent and more important receive prior attention.
Constantly making a priority list will help you achieve this purpose.
When Is The Right Time For Actions?
Human beings are never short of things to do. But the major headache is finding
the right time to execute this series of activities. There’s probably no magic
formula for determining the appropriate time for executing any action. But it
is possible to decode from your priority list which activity can be undertaken
first at a particular period of time. You can now see the significance of
making a priority list. Though many people can claim that they can achieve that
purpose with their sharp or smart brain; however, it is safe to say that
writing your proposed actions in black and white doesn’t only help you to check
them every now and then, it can also allow you to easily make certain
corrections on the list. Unlike storing things only in your brain where there
could be an issue of memory loss, the entries you’ve made on a priority list
will remain there until you delete them.
Taking the two facts above into
consideration, you should be able to identify some priorities in your life at a
certain period, pursue them with all your available resources and make sure
that you excel in all you do. The essence of this information is to encourage
you to shy away from matters that are not priorities and maximize your scarce resources
by concentrating only on appropriate and relevant issues at a given time!
